Medium Grants 2024
Status of the procedure
The deadline for submitting project outlines for this year's ideas competition was 14 January 2025, 11:59 am (CET).
In total, the IKI Office at ZUG received 177 outlines out of which 117 were submitted for the thematic priority I: ‘Promotion of ambitious participatory measures for the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions’ and 60 for the thematic priority II: ‘Integrative measures for the protection and sustainable use of biodiversity in cities’. 138 implementing organisations from 35 different countries participated in the ideas competition.
Outlines that do not fulfil the formal minimum requirements as stated in the funding announcement, or were not considered for an in-depth assessment, have already been informed by email. The remaining outlines will now be subjected to a more in-depth technical assessment to evaluate the project concept in detail. This review process is expected to continue into Summer 2025.
The final selection among the highest ranked project outlines is made by the German Federal Ministry for the Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the German Ministry for the Environment, Natural Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).
A maximum of up to twelve projects worth up to 8 million euros in public funding will be selected. The selected projects are expected to start in the second quarter of 2026 at the earliest.
