The Secretary-General’s Climate Action Team: Mobilizing international climate action through NDC diplomacy

The Climate Action Team (CAT) is be based in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General (EOSG), reporting to the Secretary-General through the Deputy Secretary-General. The team is supported by the Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) and also works in close collaboration with the United Nations system, in particular the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and the Executive Office of the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The objective of the Secretary-General’s climate action strategy throughout his second term will be to keep 1.5C temperature limit within reach through accelerating emission reduction efforts globally and across key emitting sectors and delivering climate justice through enhanced financing for mitigation, adaptation and Loss and Damage while leaving no one behind.
