Solar Mapping and Monitoring (SolMap)
The project helped to create an enabling environment for solar power plant planning and implementation, and to optimise the profits from solar plants in India. To support this process, a country-wide solar measurement and monitoring programme was established to provide reliable data on solar irradiation and monitor the efficiency of solar plants currently in operation. Greenhouse gas emissions can be lowered and dependency on fossil fuels reduced by increasing the amount of energy generated from photovoltaic and solar thermal plants.
