Resource and land use management promoting carbon capture/storage through compensation payments

The project aimed to create carbon sinks through sustainable land-use and agroforestry and improve environmental services through forest landscape restoration (FLR) as part of REDD+ in Central America. In supporting the establishment of compensation mechanisms for ecosystem services the income of land users has been increased and the multiple functions of forests and landscapes strenghthend and restored. By supporting regional Bonn Challenge conferences in Central America, the project contributed to the visibility and the contribution of the Central American region in Forest Landscape Restoration. In summer 2017 a successional project was approved that will further work on the project targets.
