Leadership Training in the Environment and Climate Sector - Phase II

This project aimed to provide training and development for high-ranking experts, senior managers and leaders from the Party, State Council and local authorities on environmental standards, environmental legislation, environment policy tools and environmental economic instruments, as well as aspects of climate change. Training will take the form of courses and workshops, as well as educational trips to and management workshops in Germany.

  • Project completed
  • Expert meetings on the level of Mayors in cooperation with the German cities Bottrop, Gelsenkirchen and Herten on sustainable structural changes and adaptation to climate change in cities
  • Cooperation with the city of Pingdingshan and introduction of Action Learning Concepts
  • Study tours to Germany for different target groups to introduce German experiences on 'Low Carbon Economy in Urban Areas` in 2013 and 2015
  • Introduction of environmental and climate issues in the curricula of courses for senior personnel in Chinese partner institutions
  • Advice, case studies and refresher courses on environmental industrial policy and waste and water management with the participation of the Hesse State Ministry of Environment, Energy, Agriculture and Consumer Protection as well as the Institute for Economics at the University of Heidelberg
  • Technical meetings with representatives of the BMUB and the project partner NDRC regarding 'Participation of the public in large projects with environmental relevance', Peking November 2013
