Information Matters: Capacity Building for Ambitious Reporting and Facilitation of International Mutual Learning through Peer-to-Peer Exchange
Developing and emerging countries are expected to submit Biennial Update Reports (BURs) to the UNFCCC every two years. Information Matters aimed at strengthening capacities for the preparation of high quality and ambitious reports in eight selected partner countries: Chile, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, the Philippines, Colombia, Egypt, Georgia and Viet Nam. Country-tailored consulting and trainings enabled partner countries to institutionalise their MRV systems and enhance technical capacities, especially with regard to GHG inventories and reporting on mitigation actions. Sharing lessons learned and facilitating knowledge exchange on good practices through peer exchange was another key element of the project. Upon request, the project offered short-term support to additional countries under its flexible “Ad-hoc Facility”. Experiences gained from the project also provided insights to the UNFCCC negotiations and other related fora, e.g. the Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement.
