Forest Landscape Restoration with PPPs in Asia

Sustainable forest management makes a key contribution to adaptation to climate change and the conservation of biodiversity, while also offering an additional source of income for local populations. In light of this, the project initiated cooperative ventures in partner countries between the private sector and actors from local communities who use forests. The project also worked in close collaboration with local authorities. The afforestation strategy based on value chains for sustainable wood and bamboo, as well as the replacement of liquefied gas by biomass pellets. Lessons learned from the project, which were accompanied by scientific research, also helped to establish the topic of sustainable forest management as a policy issue.
