Energy Efficiency for sustainable tourism in Pangandaran, Indonesia

The project implemented innovative pilot measures focusing on mitigation and adaptation in the Pangandaran region of West Java. Tourism constitutes the region’s core economic sector and the aim was to make it generally more sustainable. Project measures targeted the following areas: more efficient utilisation of energy – especially in hotel complexes and by urban infrastructure services, elaboration of a municipal energy concept for renewable energy applications, public awareness-raising on climate issues and the implementation of adaptation measures. Planning and implementation of the pilot measures took place in coordination with the local tourism industry, the public administration and a local sustainable tourism network (INDECON).
