Central Asia Nature Partnership

The ecosystems of Central Asia, ranging from mountains and steppes to freshwater and desert ecosystems, are under threat from unsustainable use and environmental changes. The region is particularly affected by water scarcity, soil salinisation, high pesticide and fertiliser use, and gaps in access to basic services such as water and wastewater management. The Central Asia Nature Partnership (CAP) relies on a strong partnership between public and private actors to foster investments and sustainable business models. The aim is to create incentives for nature-friendly solutions, especially in the water sector, through demonstration projects. These projects are supported by political and technical assistance and are intended to serve as models for further actions in the long term. The fund thus contributes to addressing the climate and environmental challenges in the region and advancing capacity development.
