The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection of Germany (BMUV), together with UN Environment Programme (UNEP) are hosted the "Unlocking Nature’s Potential to Combat Climate Change – The case for Nature for Climate Action: country experiences, lessons learned and the way forward" event at the UNFCCC COP27 on November 16th.

The event showcased how to integrate nature and NbS in domestic and international plans and policies, in order to address the need of rapidly scaled-up NbS implementation worldwide and across all types of ecosystems.

The speakers included: 

  • Minister Steffi Lemke (Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection),  
  • Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya (Minister of Environment, Rwanda),  
  • Alue Dohong (Vice Minister of Environment and Forestry, Indonesia),  
  • Giovanna Valverde (Costa Rica Ambassador in Kenya and Permanent Representative to UNEP and UN HABITAT),  
  • Inger Andersen (Executive Director, UNEP) and  
  • Pasang Dolma Sherpa (Executive Director of the Center for Indigenous Peoples’ Research & Development, CIPRED)
