OMEA was established in April 2015 by Odesa City Council with the support of the Project “Establishment of Energy Agencies in Ukraine” that is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Environment Ministry (BMUB) implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with the goal of identifying and tapping potentials for energy savings and increasing energy efficiency.
