Launching a New Era: Indonesia’s IBSAP 2025-2045 for Biodiversity Protection

On August 8, 2024, Indonesia took a significant step by officially launching the Indonesian Biodiversity Strategy & Action Plan (IBSAP) 2025-2045, which will guide the countries’ actions towards biodiversity conservation and management. The launching event was inaugurated by Vice President K.H. Ma'ruf Amin in Vice Presidential Place, Jakarta, with an overview of Indonesia’s rich biodiversity resources.
The IBSAP 2025-2045 reflects Indonesia's unwavering commitment to protect its rich biodiversity, spanning from aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, for generations to come. It serves as a strategic roadmap for both state and non-state actors, aligning with the goals set out in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) established at COP15 of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in December 2022.
Looking to the future, the German Federal Government, through GIZ Indonesia and ASEAN, will continue its steadfast support for the Indonesian government in the implementation and monitoring of the IBSAP 2025-2045. Germany will remain a key cooperation partner in Indonesia’s efforts to protect its invaluable biodiversity.
