Hutan Harapan - Forest of Hope
Hutan Harapan - Indonesian for Forest of Hope - is a rainforest of breathtaking biodiversity and one of the last refuges for endangered species on Sumatra. It has also secured the livelihood of the local population for centuries. But deforestation, forest fires, poaching and the climate crisis, threaten this valuable lowland rainforest.
Together with local communities and Indigenous Peoples, NABU, Burung Indonesia, RSPB, BirdLife International and KfW protect and restore Hutan Harapan.
