A Novel High-Resolution Gridded Precipitation Dataset for Peruvian and Ecuadorian Watersheds: Development and Hydrological Evaluation

03/2022 | Study

In Peru and Ecuador the data base related to precipitation is severely limited by, among other factors, the uneven and inadequate distribution of rain gauges. Fernandez-Palomino et al. (2022) develop and use the RAIN4PE approach to estimate precipitation patterns to create a new daily precipitation dataset for Peru and Ecuador. The approach brings together different sources of precipitation and precipitation estimates, providing numerous new opportunities for hydrometeorological applications.
