Solar Guidelines Phase II
In its second phase, the Solar Guidelines web portal is expanding its database.
The ComSolar project has been pursuing the market launch of solar energy in urban regions and industrial areas of India since 2009 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB). The project, which is financed by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), supports the Solar Guidelines web tool, in addition to other components.
Solar Guidelines is the first project of its kind in India. The website with the same name offers readily understandable guidelines for developing solar energy projects. In particular, it provides instructions for understanding legal and administrative regulations, many of which are very complicated, and for designing concepts from approval up to the finished project.
The kick-off of Solar Guidelines Phase II was celebrated in early July at an event that was also attended by representatives of India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
In the second project phase, the main focus will be on expanding the web database. The project intends to cover 10 more Indian states, and to develop quality standards and criteria for the simplified processing of loans. Ground-mounted, grid-connected photovoltaic installations and roof-mounted photovoltaic systems for private household use will receive support.
