A new internet platform is providing information to policy-makers and the general public in Mexico about the local impacts of climate change as well as on ways to adapt to these changes. The platform was developed by two projects of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) – the Mexican-German Climate Change Alliance and the Inventory of Methods for Climate Adaptation project. The platform was presented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, which is responsible for the projects, together with the project partners, the National Institute for Ecology and Climate Change (INECC) and Mexico's Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (SERMANAT), during an event attended by over 60 participants on 19 February 2014 in Mexico City.

The new website serves as a platform for learning, dialogue and the sharing of knowledge, gathering together the most recent information in Spanish on the issue of adaptation in Mexico. The website primarily contains information about the impacts of climate change, analyses of Mexico's vulnerability to these impacts, policy approaches for addressing these challenges, as well as associated cross-cutting and international issues such as climate change and gender equality. In addition to a digital library, the website also includes a learning community, model projects, expert interviews and much more just waiting to be explored.

During the event, the website's contents and functions were introduced by Beatriz Bugeda, General Director of Climate Change Policy of SERMANAT, Corinna Küsel, GIZ Country Director, and Amparo Martínez, Director General of the INECC. They subsequently discussed with the participants the latest developments and challenges for Mexico’s adaptation policy. All of the participants were invited to become members of the platform to continue the discussion.
