Information on “IKI Standard Indicator 1 – Mitigation”

As of February 2024

To capture the overarching mitigation effects of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), IKI projects have to report their direct and/or indirect mitigation effects in tonnes of CO2 equivalents through Standard Indicator 1 – Mitigation. In doing so, they have to apply internationally recognised methodologies and make transparent any assumptions or parameters used in the Standard Indicator Report (IKI Template).

On this page, IKI projects will find relevant information and support for reporting on Standard Indicator 1 - Mitigation. The IKI Guidelines on Project Planning and Monitoring and the IKI Template Annex 7 Standard Indicator Report contain relevant definitions and basic information on reporting on all five Standard Indicators.

Further sector-specific guidelines and recordings of online seminars on Standard Indicator 1 - Mitigation provide in-depth information on estimating mitigation effects in four sectors:

  1. Energy;
  2.  Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU);
  3. Mobility / transport;
  4. Buildings.

Recordings of the seminars

As a support for IKI projects, the IKI together with The Greenwerk and Perspectives Group hosted four webinars on Standard Indicator 1 – Mitigation with a focus on different sectors. Each online seminar starts with an introduction to the Standard Indicator 1 and the IKI Standard Indicator Report (Excel Tool). In the main part, established methodologies for estimating mitigation impacts as well as sample calculations for the respective sector are shared.
