Fostering environmentally and socially responsible, decarbonized, inclusive, and transformative value chains for energy transition minerals in the SADC region
The project aims to ensure that in the SADC region the extraction and processing of minerals needed for the energy transition is carried out using low-carbon, environmentally friendly and socially acceptable methods. It supports partner countries in achieving their NDC targets, contributes to global climate goals and promotes sustainable development and inclusive growth in the region. The project strengthens the development of regional and national policy frameworks that promote green growth and sustainable development. It also promotes the introduction and improvement of monitoring and regulatory measures to ensure that economic activities are carried out responsibly. One focus is on strengthening civil society and promoting the role of women to actively influence and enforce environmental standards.

State of implementation/results
- The preparation phase of the project includes the following topics :
- fundamental activities, such as analyses, discussions with stakeholders, country visits, etc., which are necessary for the overall achievement of the project objective.

- After the preparation phase , a decision is made on further funding by the International Climate Initiative.
