Youth
The global transformation of society, the economy and politics towards climate neutrality in the sense of the Paris Climate Agreement requires the participation of young people - as providers of ideas and impulses of today and as knowledge and decision makers of tomorrow. At the same time, young people are greatly affected by the consequences of climate change and biodiversity loss.
The IKI approach
With this knowledge, young people and youth groups worldwide are campaigning for a just and ambitious climate policy. It is because of this knowledge too, that the IKI promotes cooperation by, for and with young people. This takes place within the framework of projects and their activities on, among other things, offers on formal and informal educational, teaching and learning materials, trainings, specialised events and study trips for young people on topics and aspects of climate and biodiversity protection.
Free classroom materials about climate action and biodiversity conservation
From plastic waste to urban nature and insects: Deutsche Welle’s learning packs bring climate action and biodiversity conservation into the classroom. Each learning pack focuses on one key topic in contemporary environmental education. And there’s plenty of material for virtual classrooms, too.
All of the DW learning packs are free to use by public-sector and not-for-profit educators. The packs are aimed at young people aged between 12 and 16. Materials are also available in German and Spanish.
